When should you use the remove option?
Canceling a pairing essentially deletes the pairing; it does not put it back into open time so you can re-assign to another crewmember. The associated segments would be placed back into open segments, and would need to be added to another pairing or deleted from open segments.
So, if you only want to remove a crewmember(s) from a pairing, then cancelling a pairing would be a bad idea and would cause a lot of extra work, but can sometimes can be a common mistake we make in the heat of the moment.
So if all you need to do is remove one or more crewmembers from a pairing then go to the crewmember’s Maser Schedule to remove them from the pairing.
Open the “Master” screen in the “Schedules” menu of CrewTrac, and select the appropriate crewmember.
Right click on the appropriate pairing, and select “Remove” from the menu.
NOTE: The system will automatically assign a transaction code for the removal.
Click on the “Evaluate” button, which will process the pairing as well as evaluate the Master Schedule for any legalities/violations.
If you are making multiple changes to the crewmember’s schedule we have a time saving tip you should check out (Tip #9 – Processing Multiple Modifications to a Master Schedule)
